The Toronto Telegram ceased Publication in 1971

My parents had the telegram delivered daily. I was nearly 11 when it ceased publishing so I don't know why, 50 years later, I remote it so fondly…but I do.

It Ain’t Easy. John Baldry on Vinyl

It Ain't Easy, by John Baldry. One of my favourite albums produced in 1971 by Elton John and Rod Stewart and featuring so many more. Very cool 😎

Frank Sinatra Vinyl from the 1950s

Although not usually my go to genre, I do like Frank. Especially his earlier recordings. So when a friend offered these to me before she put them in a donation bin, I happily accepted. From 1955, 1958, and 1959. All in pristine condition. Sometimes you just get lucky 😎

Did You Win the Day or Lose it?

Is anybody happier, because you passed their way?
Does anyone remember, that you spoke to them today?
The day is almost over and its toiling time is through
Is there anyone to utter now, a grateful word of you?

As you take a glance back over, the day that's slipping fast.
Did you help a single person of the many that you passed?
Is a single heart rejoicing, over what you did or said?
Does the one whose hopes were fading, now with courage look ahead?

Did you win the day or lose it, was it well or sorely spent?
Did you leave a trail of kindness, or a scar of discontent?
As you close your eyes in slumber, do you think that God would say?
You have earned one more tomorrow, by the good you did today.

One of My Fave Songs/Prayers — Leonard Cohen, Come Healing

O, gather up the brokenness
Bring it to me now
The fragrance of those promises
You never dared to vow
The splinters that you carried
The cross you left behind
Come healing of the body
Come healing of the mind
And let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb
Behold the gates of mercy
In arbitrary space
And none of us deserving
Of cruelty or the grace
O, solitude of longing
Where love has been confined
Come healing of the body
Come healing of the mind
O, see the darkness yielding
That tore the light apart
Come healing of the reason
Come healing of the heart
O, troubledness concealing
An undivided love
The heart beneath is teaching
To the broken heart above
And let the heavens falter
Let the earth proclaim
Come healing of the altar
Come healing of the name
O, longing of the branches
To lift the little bud
O, longing of the arteries
To purify the blood
And let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb
O let the heavens hear it
The penitential hymn
Come healing of the spirit
Come healing of the limb

The Beard is Coming Back

Probably not going back to the really long hair, it was becoming too much of a pain in the ass. But I do miss the beard so it's on its way back!

Not sure of the exact year. Could be 1970 or 1972. But that's me in the 2nd row, 2nd in from the right. My Dad (John Rodkin) coached, he...
