How often does the earth shake beneath your feet?

How often does your world shake? Does the earth move, so to speak. Specifically I mean when reading a blog post, even one on a subject that is close to your heart?
That just happened to me, and I was reading what could be viewed as a religious post, yet it was about food. The site is the Christian Food Network and it seems to have brought a clarity to my thinking of prayer, of Christianity, and yes of food, in a way nothing I’ve read before has. Right from the post’s first sentence, “He gave us a meal. At one of the hardest points of his life, Jesus Christ gave us a meal.”
That one sentence hit me in a way that is well described by some Kid Rock song lyrics;
I tell you it will shake the earth beneath your feet
The light that shines will redefine your old beliefs
What you reap is what you sow and so it goes
Where you plant your needs is where your garden grows

If you don’t know about the Last Supper then you aren’t a Christian. Every Christian service is a remake of the Last Supper, of Jesus sharing with us the bread and wine, His body and blood.
Church is great. The community support alone is immeasurable. And of course there’s the whole “where two or three are gathered in my name” thing. I’ve tried to go without attending Church, but I’ve learned that, for me, it’s important.

But what I’ve just learned, what moved the ground beneath my feet, is the realization that we, each of us, can have Jesus with us everytime we eat...every time we break bread. It seems so simple, so obvious as I’m writing this.

I could keep writing but far better if you just visit the site and poke around a bit. I’ll sign off with the final words of the site’s post… “you are invited in… christianfoodmovement.org
